Job Title: Director, Sales VP -  Data Center

Location: Carrollton, GA - Corporate Office

Department: Wire & Cable Sales 

Reports to: VP, Strategic Verticals

Summary:

The Sales VP, Data Center position is a technical and business multidiscipline professional. Must be result driven, understands and accepts responsibility for specification, strategic positioning and managing multiple data center projects across various regions. An aggressive problem solver and readily engages and utilizes resources within the company to ensure that projects are fully serviced, on time and profitable. In addition, the Sales VP, Data Center professional must have a One Southwire approach towards securing and executing this role.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders internally and externally with each data center opportunity including: Owners, General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, Channel Partners, RVPs, Product Teams, Agents and Contractor Solution Team and Data Center Project Team
  • Create a cohesive One Southwire Data Center vertical market strategy to include all geographic, product, and services offerings where Southwire has the best opportunity to win.
  • Focus on Hyperscale and Co-Location level data center vertical.
  • Develop a process to specify and execute on targeted data center projects.
  • Create a game plan for each major Data Center site identifying Southwire’s position on leverage, partnerships, value-add, ability to sell product breadth, and which resources to apply for success.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of Southwire’s suite of products, solutions, procedures, practices and personnel to determine the appropriate resources within Southwire to utilize for pricing and product information for strategic initiatives and planning
  • Manage pricing strategies according to game plan by product specifications and standards regarding market share, gross margin, volume, product mix account mix and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Operations to best allocate and manage global capacity of vertical products.
  • Ensure project mix maintains an optimum balance of margin and profitability yet maintaining a competitive position within the data center vertical market
  • Understand the technical documents based on customer specification requirements to ensure products quoted are in compliance with predetermined standards
  • Facilitate adding strategic Solution Distributor partner in underserved data center geographies
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, specification reviews and estimating activities as they relate to developing project proposals, project management and project implementation aspects of a project
  • Manage Data Center Project Team to develop and implement specific project management processes and controls necessary
  • Enhance Southwire’s image in the industry through participation in industry meetings and shows as THE data center value partner
  • Travel as required for channel relationship, project execution and industry related events
  • Report to executive leadership periodically on results as well as to guidance and resources

 

Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor Degree, 8+ years direct sales experience working with complex sales spreadsheets and developing Supply agreements and/or Proposals in a sales driven organization and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint and Microsoft Access
  • Must have working experience within Hyperscale and Co-Location Data Center Owners, General Contractors, and Electrical Contractors participating in the Data Center market vertical.
  • Must be very organized and self-motivated.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal contacts within Southwire
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem identification and resolution skills
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Ability to work as an effective team player
  • Ability to cope with changing needs and requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
  • Excellent knowledge of project related business.
  • Ability to effectively work with the people
  • Experienced in developing and implementing project planning and control methods.
