JOB TITLE:              SCADA Electrical Engineer   


DEPARTMENT:      Energy Manufacturing- Carrollton


REPORTS TO:         SCUPP Engineering Manager


JOB GRADE:          



Responsible for developing and maintaining the plant wide SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system comprised of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electromechanical devices, and network equipment that interface with the shop floor manufacturing database. Engineer will work closely with the Manufacturing and IT departments to integrate new components and procedures into the existing system.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain PLC programs in both Modicon and Allen Bradley controllers using function block, structured text, statement list, and ladder logic formats.
  • Understand and develop SQL scripts.
  • Specify and acquire components as needed.
  • Plan and oversee installation and startup of all projects.
  • Create schematics and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Assist Maintenance as needed with diagnosis and repair of SCADA component malfunctions.
  • Standardize schematics, programs and components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Working knowledge of PLC and HMI hardware and software.
  • Ability to read and create schematic drawings using AUTOCAD software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Network Communications.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Operators, Technicians, Management and others.
  • Four-year Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • Two to five years manufacturing or related experience a plus.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Requires strong analytical, excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills
