Part-time student opportunities allow undergraduate and graduate students to schedule their work around their classes.  These roles are available in both the office, customer service centers, and in the production environment.  This program will allow students to gain experience working in a business/manufacturing environment while maintaining their full time academic commitments.

This part time work can be done throughout the student’s matriculation at college/university with the options for extended work hours during the summer months.  Student are eligible for part time opportunities after the completion of their freshman year and can work until graduation.  Students must be within a commutable distance of the Southwire location to participate in the Part Time Student Program.

The HR Intern will provide customer service to Southwire employees, perform full range of HR functions including administration of HR policies, procedures, programs, maximize value of employee communication and employee recognition/appreciation along with ensuring a positive work environment. The candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality at all levels.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing or updating employment records, files, and data related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
  • Explaining and understanding human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards for new and existing employee
  • Build and maintain professional relationships 
  • Conduct hourly new hire orientations
  • Perform HR related duties: creating requisitions, onboarding candidates, handling service anniversary awards, scheduling meetings, creating reports and spreadsheets, tracking information, reconciling expense accounts
  • Provide support to an EVP serving as a back up to the executive assistant and handling administrative duties as needed


  • Must be a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Ability to work at least 20 hours per week
  • Studying towards a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Business Administartion or a related area
  •  Minimum 2.5 GPA
  •  Excellent listening, communication and written skills
  •  Energetic and passionate with a flexible spirit
  •  Ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions
  •  Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
