Job Description


Job Title: PT - Intern, Business Transformation


Part-time student opportunities allow undergraduate and graduate students to schedule their work around their classes.  These roles are available in both the office, customer service centers, and in the production environment.  This program will allow students to gain experience working in a business/manufacturing environment while maintaining their full time academic commitments.

This part time work can be done throughout the student’s matriculation at college/university with the options for extended work hours during the summer months.  Student are eligible for part time opportunities after the completion of their freshman year and can work until graduation.  Students must be within a commutable distance of the Southwire location to participate in the Part Time Student Program.


Task and Responsibilities:  

  • As part of the Business Transformation team, assist with business modeling for new processes and policies
  • Monitor business processes using tools that will model current processes for consistency
  • Create reporting data bases that will be used by business personnel for cross references and master data analysis
  • Work with IT resources to execute solutions in SharePoint, Salesforce and other platforms that business people can use as references
  • Learn business processes and participate in cross functional team projects to help improve and solve current day problems
  • Provide solutions on how to turn manual processes into automated solutions for routine work using all of Southwire’s systems


Suggestions for potential candidates:  

  • Must be a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Ability to work at least 20 hours per week
  • Studying towards a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in business management, finance or accounting, information technologies
  • At least a 2.5 GPA
  • Excellent listening, communication and written skills
  • Energetic and passionate with a flexible spirit
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Experience with Visio, Access and SharePoint is a plus
