Job Description

 

Job Title: PT-Intern, ITS Support Desk

 

Part-time student opportunities allow undergraduate and graduate students to schedule their work around their classes.  These roles are available in both the office, customer service centers, and in the production environment.  This program will allow students to gain experience working in a business/manufacturing environment while maintaining their full time academic commitments.

This part time work can be done throughout the student’s matriculation at college/university with the options for extended work hours during the summer months.  Student are eligible for part time opportunities after the completion of their freshman year and can work until graduation.  Students must be within a commutable distance of the Southwire location to participate in the Part Time Student Program.

Assist the ITS Support Desk, Operations and Telco teams with the daily operations of keeping all systems running at peak performance.  Deliver quality service in resolving issues that may impact Southwire customers or users. 

 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide support in diagnosing hardware and software issues and troubleshooting activities
  • Assist in performing hardware and software installation procedures
  • Perform software configuration on stand-alone computers and laptops
  • Cell Phone configuration
  • Document all processes in reference manuals for training and guidance
  • Assist in hardware and software inventory management
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be working on 4-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business degree
  • Must maintain 2.5 GPA or above
  •  Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are required
  • Must have proven ability to be organized and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office suite.
  • Willingness to learn multiple technologies
  • Willingness to learn and apply troubleshooting skills in End User Support, Phone Support, and Operations
  • This position requires some local travel; Per Southwire's Company Auto Insurance, must have a Valid Driver’s license and be 21 years of age or older.
