Job Summary
The Maintenance Systems Reliability Engineer champions and supports the implementation of reliability best practices at various Southwire manufacturing sites. This role will also be responsible for the evaluation and proliferation of new best-known methods and technologies to improve equipment reliability and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with assigned plant maintenance teams and peer Maintenance Systems team members, identify, evaluate, and implement improvement initiatives based on the company’s Reliability and Maintainability Roadmap.
- Assist in the development of plant reliability engineers to ensure utilization of maintenance systems to improve analytical capabilities during the assessment of asset performance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Root Cause Analysis process, providing training and direction to team members across the enterprise.
- Assist the Modernization and plant maintenance teams in ensuring Management of Change process adherence; as requested, participate in early equipment design for maintainability and reliability while supporting equipment readiness at time of commissioning.
- Lead and perform assigned project work and tasks. Own the solution effectiveness through deployment of these activities.
- Support preventive maintenance optimization through standardized practice for similar assets.
- Formally audit plant adherence to Roadmap element progression, providing task recommendations for advancement.
- Serve as a CMMS subject matter expert and train system users on master and transactional data expectations.
- Provide controlled documentation to guide manufacturing teams on policies, procedures, and principles.
- Promote the following reliability guidance:
- Planned corrective maintenance is more effective than reactive maintenance.
- Time-based preventive maintenance is more effective than planned corrective maintenance.
- Condition-based maintenance is more effective than time-based preventive maintenance.
- Maintenance prevention is the best comprehensive maintenance strategy.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with focus on reliability and maintainability required.
- Must have thorough knowledge of methodologies including Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Must be able to train others on reliability activities while also capable of facilitating analyses that utilize reliability methodologies.
- Must also be familiar with common condition based, predictive technologies such as vibration, thermal, ultrasonic, oil and circuit analyses.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with focus on reliability and maintainability required.
