Job Title: Manager, Product

Department: Tools, Components, and Assembled Solutions

Location: Carrollton, GA

Reports To: VP, Product Management 

 

 Summary:

 

We are seeking a Product Manager to create, launch and manage our growing Mobile Power line. The Mobile Power product line covers, GFCI products, RV accessories, and temporary power products. This manager will own the P&L for the Mobile Power products, and our data center business. This role will also serve as the site leader for the Largo facility, and be responsible for engineering for the entire Tools, Assembled and Power Components Business.

This individual will work with cross-functional teams, sales, marketing, suppliers, and customers championing innovation and new product development. Unique product development will come through the analysis of research, customer feedback and the understanding the latest trends in the marketplace.

 

 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

MARKET ANALYSIS

  • Regularly monitors market in designated categories for competitor activities and information, market pricing, market size & trends and exploit opportunities.
  • Annually conducts formal competitor evaluation in key designated categories including analysis of product performance, materials and build processes.
  • Establishes self as “Category Expert.”

 

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  •  Develops Strategic plans to grow the assembled products.
  •  Develops and commercializes all new products in to ensure on-time, on-spec, and on-budget delivery to drive sales growth.
  •    Initiates each project via product specs, drawings, material specs, sample requests and cost targets.
  •  Interacts closely with all groups involved in PD process; Marketing, Management, Compliance, Supply Chain and Sales.
  •  Manages sample process via daily communications with suppliers and affected teams.
  • Finalizes product specifications including graphics working with marketing.
  • Ensures production readiness.
  •  Work with the marketing team to define customer needs and oversee the creation of high caliber customer communications.
  •  Negotiates product costs with suppliers to ensure profitability while ensuring competitive pricing to field.
  • Manages setup of all new SKUs in SAP

 

COLLABORATION

  •          Maintains strong and productive relationships with suppliers in North America and Asia.
  •          Works closely with Southwire China office to identify candidate suppliers.
  •          Works with the Southwire factory in Honduras
  •          Supports Southwire Sales Team in achieving planned sales and profitability targets for designated product lines.
  •          Supports Marketing in development of packaging, web development and other collateral marketing materials.
  •          Supports Sales organization (sales and customer service representatives) during selling season.
  •          Supports Sales during line review preparations and presentations where applicable.
  •          Supports Supply Chain product-sourcing efforts.
  •          Supports Quality Assurance product inspection efforts.

 

FORECASTS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  •          Provides quarterly forecast update for each product line.
  •          Closely monitors inventory levels, especially during peak periods.
  •          Manage E&O levels and maximize profitable disposition of goods
  •          Determines and provides product substitution grids to Supply Chain and Customer Service.

 

LEADERSHIP

  •          Site leader, provides feedback to the leadership team for the Southwire Largo office.
  •           Leads the engineering team and manages projects in conjunction with the project manager.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree required; experience with Consumer Retail products preferably in the electrical industry. Background highly desirable; engineering knowledge/skills; quick thinker; ability to take additional responsibilities as needed; capable of taking strong initiative/handle multiple tasks from start to finish; strong work ethic.

 

Skills:

 

  • Strong PC skills, including a very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; SAP system
  • Must have experience launching new products into retail or wholesale markets.
  • Must have experience gathering voice of customer research

 

Physical Demands

General non-smoking office conditions; continuous sitting, occasional standing/bending are necessary; travel by automobile or air may be required. Will be required to travel to Asia semi annually
