Sr Machinist, Denton Texas

Shift: Day Shift 12 hours



Under the direction of the supervisor, an individual will be expected to fabricate, repair and/or modify complicated machinable parts and assemblies.



  • Fabricate, repair or modify complicated machinable parts and assemblies while maintaining specified tolerances.
  • Select and use applicable tools and materials to accomplish assigned tasks in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Perform assigned tasks with input from supervisor, maintenance work order, blueprints and maintenance craftsman.
  • Select and use correct lubricants and oils on assigned equipment.
  • Complete all forms, as required by management, such as maintenance work orders, inspection reports, P.M. check lists, etc., using hard copy and/or computer generated forms.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with shop procedures and operating standards.
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete training courses as prescribed by management and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Skills and Abilities Required

  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete certification program for “Senior” Machinist.
  • Thorough knowledge of, and ability to correctly use, all machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Thorough knowledge of shop math.
  • Ability to select correct machine tools, correct machine settings and materials to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints.
  • Ability to perform precision work on complicated tasks with all applicable machine tools such as fabrication of complicated shafts, extrusion tooling and assembly parts.
  • Must know correct heat-treating methods and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with others.
  • Must be able to use personal computer and utilize all maintenance and supply screens as determined by management.
  • Must be physically able to expend considerable effort to perform assigned tasks.



  • Could be exposed to working conditions such as inclement weather, heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, dirt, fumes, water, oil and heights.Where conditions require, protective equipment will be issued to the employee.
  • This job requires the individual to climb flights of stairs on an as-needed basis.Some of these are ladders for equipment access, some are regular type steps, and others are at steep inclines.
  • The individual must also work in awkward positions daily to service all required equipment.
  • Individual must use at least 10-20 pounds of force on most jobs and occasionally is required to move between 50-100 pounds.
  • Extensive use of hands/tools for repairs required.



  • Must attend and satisfactorily complete fire brigade training.
  • Use the company’s ISO Quality System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities.
