Provides leadership and direction to employees for continuous improvement in areas of quality, service and cost through Operational Perfection at Southwire culture.  Through personal leadership, ensure that a positive and productive working environment is created and maintained.

 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The following duties and responsibilities are to be incorporated into the leader standard work and gemba walks.

  • Communication:  Facilitate daily huddle meetings and act as a liaison between employees and leadership.    Communicate industry and brand knowledge to employees, as well as, employee messages.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, Security:  Make regular walkthroughs during your shift to ensure is neat and well organized and that damage to product, equipment, and the facility is prevented.  Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and other appropriate standards.  Support activities for OSHA VPP Star Site achievement.
  • Equipment:  Ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment.  Input or follow-up on maintenance work orders as necessary.
  • Quality:  Focus on creating quality product for our end users. This involves ensuring that all production, quality, and specific work instructions are properly followed.
  • Operations:  Direct, supervise, and prioritize workforce assignments in accordance with high level of productivity.  Walkthrough the department regularly to answer questions, evaluate operations and assist in problem solving.  Make recommendations to the department manager on programs/systems/methods to improve operations.
  • Management:  Provide daily supervision of employees to ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the department.  Develop and implement plans to focus on scrap and downtime reduction while ensuring efficient operation and be open to new ideas, processes, and equipment.  Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in leading, supervising, coaching and disciplining employees.
  • Documentation/Records:  Ensure that all records and reports regarding activity are prepared on a timely basis and efficiently maintained.  This includes department emails and reports, as well as, our time keeping system in ADP.  Review operating goals and standards and monitor achievement of those goals.
  • Inventory:  Control material flow and manage inventory to ensure machines are able to run at optimal levels.

 

Supervisor is expected to be flexible on schedule arrangement depending on operational demands.  Individual must possess strong leadership skills; have a firm understanding of OPS Principles; must be able to work well with other areas including maintenance, engineering, and management; must be proficient in Word and Excel.

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree desired
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong decision-making, interpersonal and coaching skills required
  • Must have responsible work habits
