Job Description

The General Foreman will be responsible for managing Southwire crews and subcontractors’ day to day operations at customer project sites. This individual will promote a Culture of Zero as it relates to Safety & Quality while ensuring that all Safety Protocol & Standard Operating Procedures are followed, quality documentation is completed, and technical specifications are met. This individual will be the project manager’s direct point of contact in the field and should maintain detailed notes and pictures of all work throughout the project lifecycle. From time to time, this position may fill in as a Team Lead.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize regular meetings with staff and management to review project progress and outlook & identify potential roadblocks and opportunities.
  • Transition project management and HV Services activities from planning to completion phase
  • Assess site safety and implement actions to prevent injury to property and personnel through safety audits
  • Lead pre job brief huddles each day with both subcontractors and Southwire teams to ensure safety compliance on site
  • Work with Project Management on all aspects of the project (i.e. change orders, resources required, etc.)
  • Ensure that adequate equipment and materials are onsite to allow field crews a continuous flow of uninterrupted work.
  • Understand project budgets and control expenses accordingly.
  • Coordinate civil & HV cable installation activities (Competency in excavation (certification a plus))
  • Job planning, hazard avoidance, and recording daily work records
  • Grow the customer relationship by actively engaging the customer at multiple organizational levels in cooperation with operational and sales executives

 

Minimum Education Level: High School Diploma

Certificates: Excavation Certificate

Years of Experience: 10+

Field of Expertise: High Voltage
