Job Summary

The Director of Solutions Engineering will drive accelerated business growth by leading the strategic development and commercialization of differentiated, high-impact solutions tailored to the rapidly expanding Data Center or Utility market verticals. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen to deliver innovative, customer-focused offerings that address evolving industry demands. Proven experience in conceptualizing, designing, and deploying scalable, market-ready products and solutions is essential.

This role is instrumental in driving demand creation by capturing the voice of the customer and translating their needs into actionable technical solutions. Acting as a strategic bridge between sales and engineering, the role involves engaging directly with customers to understand their challenges, designing optimal solutions using Southwire's products and services, and guiding the sales process with deep technical expertise. Additionally, the role collaborates closely with engineering and product teams to continuously refine and enhance offerings based on customer feedback.

The Director of Solutions Engineering is responsible for aligning product engineering initiatives with company objectives, with a strong emphasis on the data center or utility sectors across Southwire's full product portfolio. This role involves direct engagement with customers, delivering in-depth product training, and leading technical troubleshooting efforts. The Director will collaborate closely with agents, distributors, inside and outside sales teams, operations, and product management to deliver high-impact, tailored solutions to electricians, general and electrical contractors, engineers, renewable energy developers, and EPCs

Key Responsibilities

1. Act as a subject matter expert on Southwire’s products and services, clearly articulating their technical capabilities and value propositions to lead complex technical sales engagements.

2. Drive the specification-to-offer process for data center or utility verticals identifying and promoting unique specification advantages that differentiate Southwire from competitors.

3. Establish and foster trusted partnerships with key industry stakeholders to uncover strategic insights, emerging innovation trends, and competitive dynamics to shape solution development and drive customer-aligned innovation.

4. Champion customer-centric innovation by leading ideation workshops fostering cross-functional collaboration to uncover and address voice of customer pain points translating insights into actionable engineering requirements.

5. Identify, assess and prioritize high-impact concepts based on strategic fit, feasibility, and value, leading to the development and launch of scalable, cost-effective and differentiated solutions aligned with customer needs and market trends.

6. Lead the design and delivery of integrated solutions in partnership with commercial, business development, engineering, R&D, and operations teams to ensure technical feasibility and successful execution.

7. Accelerate solution development and deployment by removing barriers, articulating the value of engineered solutions to internal stakeholders, and aligning efforts with operational excellence and strategic capacity planning.

8. Promote Southwire’s brand and thought leadership by producing technical content such as training videos, whitepapers, and webinars, and representing the company in industry forums.

9. Lead and influence codes and standards development to support the adoption of new requirements and innovative solutions to create opportunities for Southwire’s inclusion in specifications.

10. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to solution adoption, customer satisfaction, and financial impact to drive continuous improvement.
