Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for environmental, health and safetycompliance and program management for the Southwire North Campus Plant. Provides regulatory expertiseto ensure regulatory requirements applicable to the facility are known. Plans, organizes, and implementsenvironmental, health and safety activities at the facility and assists in monitoring all facility activities toensure that regulatory and company requirements are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure all Southwire North Campus Plant management staff and appropriate operational personnel areaware of current and pending regulatory requirements
• Assist in creating processes that identify, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace.
• Provide and track training to comply with applicable OSHA requirements.
• Provide industrial hygiene support as needed to evaluate employee noise and other health exposures.
• Manage all mandatory air, water and waste compliance assurance-monitoring activities at the facility,including DOT.
• Establish and maintain appropriate chemical inventory record systems to satisfy regulatory trackingrequirements.
• Provide training for staff in relation to environmental, health and safety policies, practice and procedures.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline or other program applicable to the health,safety and environmental fields are required.
• Requires minimum of three years of experience working in industrial health, safety and environmentalactivities.
• Working knowledge of the VPP process and various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA,ANSI, NEC, et…)
• Professional certification is desired.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
• Must have excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
