Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Engineer II is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving machine control systems to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality. This role requires hands-on expertise in industrial controls and the ability to support both daily operations and project-based improvements.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machine control systems, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality
  • Develop, modify, and support PLC and HMI applications across Siemens and Rockwell platforms
  • Support the design, installation, startup, and commissioning of new and upgraded control systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems and control circuits
  • Support and maintain field devices including motors, relays, sensors, switches, and photoelectric devices
  • Design, develop, and maintain instrumentation and control systems to meet operational requirements
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using Electrical CAD tools
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through control system upgrades, reliability improvements, and standardized programming practices
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support plant objectives
  • Manage priorities effectively and respond to production needs in a timely manner

 

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of power distribution, industrial networks, PLCs, HMIs, and drive systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, and SKM
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured troubleshooting approach
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA 1910, and applicable electrical safety standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in industrial controls and automation systems

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Prior experience in wire and cable manufacturing or similar continuous process industries

Travel

  • Travel: <5% (primarily domestic)
  • Work Setting: On-site (4+ days per week)
