Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for erection, commissioning and start-up of SCR Projects as required.  This individual must become familiar with all major subsystems of copper and aluminum rod mills sold to Southwire's customers.  Responsibilities include site project management, planning, scheduling, budget conformity, coordination with customer and sub-suppliers, erection and start-up supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises installation and start-up of SCR systems.
  • Performs as a site engineer, engineering coordinator and start-up engineer for systems.
  • Develops new equipment and techniques including selection and evaluation of hardware and software.
  • Transfers operating know how to SCR customers by training, publications, discussions, presentations and other forms of communication.
  • Make suggestions on how to improve SCR equipment and processes.
  • Answer the many and varied technical questions posed by our existing and prospective SCR customers and new employees.
  • Produce daily progress reports during startups and field service visits.
  • Write trip reports after customer visits.

Required Education & Experience

Required Minimum Education Level:    Bachelor's
Specialized Degree:    industrial, electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering
Years of Experience:    1-3

Preferred Education & Experience

Preferred Minimum Education Level:    Master's
Specialized Degree:    industrial, electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering
Years of Experience:    2+

 

Other Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates:    

  • Ability to communicate design information from various documents such as vendor and SCR drawings, operating manuals and maintenance/operation manuals.
  • Ability to focus efforts towards successful completion of the project.
  • Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing requirements.
  • Ability to use AutoCad is not required but ability to learn to use this software is desired.
  • Fluent in one of the following languages is not required but is a desirable attribute: Hindi, Chinese, Arabic or Russian.
  • Educational Background & Technical Knowledge: A solid foundation in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or industrial engineering is preferred, typically demonstrated through a Bachelor of Science degree. Familiarity with process engineering principles is highly valued, along with a commitment to ongoing professional and technical development. 
  • Supervision & Technical Development: The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in gaining in-depth knowledge of copper and aluminum rod mill operations. This role involves close collaboration with seasoned engineers who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout your development. Strategic decisions will be made in partnership with leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Documentation & Communication: Proficiency in managing extensive project documentation, including the development of technical procedures and manuals, is essential. The candidate should be capable of efficiently retrieving, summarizing, and clearly communicating information in response to customer inquiries, particularly in support of SCR clients. 
  • Project Planning & Execution: Experience in planning and coordinating project erection and commissioning activities is preferred.
