Job Description


PT - Intern, Internal Audit


Part-time student opportunities allow undergraduate and graduate students to schedule their work around their classes.  These roles are available in both the office, customer service centers, and in the production environment.  This program will allow students to gain experience working in a business/manufacturing environment while maintaining their full time academic commitments.

This part time work can be done throughout the student’s matriculation at college/university with the options for extended work hours during the summer months.  Student are eligible for part time opportunities after the completion of their freshman year and can work until graduation.  Students must be within a commutable distance of the Southwire location to participate in the Part Time Student Program.


Task and Responsibilities:  

  • Utilize educational background, organizational skills and communication skills in helping execute Internal Audit projects within the financial, operational and/or Information Systems area.
  • Assist in gathering, organizing and analyzing data, drawing conclusions and documenting procedures performed and observations.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to various levels of internal and external personnel, as deemed appropriate, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Provide status of assigned projects to ensure completion within scheduled time-frames, timely reporting delays or issues to internal audit management.
  • Assist with departmental administrative reporting as required.
  • Perform fieldwork assistance for external auditors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Must be a rising Junior, Senior, Graduate student or Recent graduate
  • Ability to work at least 20 hours per week
  • Studying towards or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit, Information Systems, or related field of study
  • At least a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be comfortable multi-tasking.
  • Must be highly organized with an ability to stay in the detail.
  • Must have strong interpersonal abilities, ability to get along with diverse personalities, be tactful, mature and flexible.
  • Must have good audible, written and verbal communication skills, a high degree of personal integrity, discretion, attention to detail and strong investigative skills.
  • Must be able to display initiative and accept responsibility for assigned tasks under minimal supervision.
  • Must have a problem-solving mindset and eager to learn.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
