Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and

productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with

“real world” applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment

after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of

study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.

Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Key Responsibilities
· Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and

will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.

· You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational

leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves.

· You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and

offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and

community service /volunteer initiatives.

· You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to

a world-class program community.

Long Description

This position will support Southwire’s efforts to strengthen the electrical talent pipeline through structured engagement with apprenticeship and training partners. This role will assist in building a scalable apprenticeship support and involvement program, helping define how Southwire provides resources, consumables, and financial support to training initiatives. The intern will also contribute to the development of a standardized application process for the program, ensuring the tools are clear, efficient, and aligned with contractor and training-center experience. This internship offers hands-on exposure to workforce development, program design, and cross-functional collaboration while supporting initiatives critical to Southwire’s long-term industry partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Southwire’s Electrical Apprenticeship Support & Engagement Program, including defining areas of involvement, organizing resources, and contributing to scalable program workflows and tools
  • Assist with the design and rollout of a standardized application process for consumable goods and monetary support by gathering requirements, supporting user workflows, and helping document processes
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on workforce development and apprenticeship best practices, translating insights into practical program recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (training, marketing, product, and field teams) to align initiatives with business needs and contractor experience
  • Track project progress, maintain documentation, and support basic reporting to ensure initiatives remain organized and on schedule

Short Description

Required Qualifications / Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Learning & Development, or a related field (minimum 2.5 GPA)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Analytical and research capabilities, including the ability to gather data and summarize findings clearly
  • Proficiency with standard business and collaboration tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
