Product Manager
Job Summary
This is an exciting time to join Southwire as a Product Manager who manages all aspects of a product management team, from driving new business, development of new products, and supporting all aspects of the product line inclusive of operations, sourcing, marketing, sales and other business functions. This individual will be responsible for the overall product strategy along with the tactical execution to meet corporate objectives for the Voice & Data, Electronic and Specialty Distribution product families.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain a rolling 3-year product roadmap
• Define product placement, positioning, price and lifecycle
• Own Profit & Loss responsibility to deliver sales and gross margin targets executing against the operating plan
• Build alignment across multiple functions within the organization
• Work with product management team to analyze market and industry trends, Voice of Customer (VOC), and competitive intel, then collaborate with cross functional teams to translate these insights into product solutions that meet and/or exceed user/distributor partner needs
• Demonstrate thought leadership to internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain market lead-time requirements, provide guidance on capacity planning by forecasting demand and working closely with Operations
• Talent Management/Development. Role will have 1 or more team members
Education, Experience, and Skills
Required
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or like fields.
• 5+ years of progressive experience
• Experience leading new products through a stage gate process and presenting updates to leadership
• Strong business-to-business analytical skills and previous P&L management experience required
• Experience with building strong business relationships
• Proven track record of leading and developing talent
Preferred
• Masters Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or like fields.
• 5+ years of progressive experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working cross functionally to launch new products and programs
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word) required, Microsoft Project a plus
• Industry experience in retail and wholesale distribution channels specifically Electrical is highly desired.
• Experience driving .com & MRO business a plus
• Willingness to travel more than 30% of the time for the purpose of visiting end users, distributors, suppliers and in support of commercial activities i.e., internal meetings, line reviews and industry trade shows
