Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer who will drive the growth initiatives of Southwire in servicing the high volume of residential, commercial, industrial, OEM and utility customers end users in North America and internationally. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of a variety of complex engineering applications. They will have commercial experience and be proficient in ideating, designing, and implementing commercial-scale service solutions.

A Senior Solutions Engineer will translate customer needs into technical solutions, bridging the gap between sales and engineering. Work with customers to understand their challenges, design optimal solutions using Southwire products/ services, and ultimately help guide the sales process with your technical expertise. Collaborate with both the engineering and product teams to improve solutions based on customer feedback.
 

Key Responsibilities

Provide deep technical knowledge about the company's products and services, demonstrating their capabilities and benefits to potential customers.

Drive the specification process for SW current and emerging markets.

Identify customer technical pain points during the life cycle and translate them into new engineering requirements. 

Identify and drive specification differentiation between Southwire and its competitors. 

Lead/guide complex technical conversations around Southwire new products and services.

Interpret electrical/mechanical drawings, which include system accessories, to provide the best-in-class solutions.

Develop and launch novel service solutions that meet customer needs, while considering factors like cost, value-ad, feasibility, and scalability.  

Promote Southwire’s brand through videos, whitepapers, webinars, customer presentations and serving as a thought leader in industry.

Lead codes and standards development activities and drive specification through the adoption of new requirements.

Work directly with end users to specify products and services that meet Southwire’s five sustainability attributes from cradle to grave.
 

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree

Specialized Degree: Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical

5-7 Years of Experience

Field(s) of Expertise:

  • Engineering: application support and/or product experience in the Wire and Cable, Power, Utility, Manufacturing, or Electrical Industry is required.
  • Product engineering: Innovation, design, development, launch and commercialization.

Preferred Education & Experience

Master's Degree

Specialized Degree: Engineering, Mechanical

8-11 Years of Experience

Field(s) of Expertise:

  • Field experience in residential, commercial, industrial, OEM and utility electrical installations desirable. 

Certifications/Licenses:  

CAD, Revit (BIM), Project Management; Proficient in Codes & Standards: NEC, ASTM, UL, CSA, IEEE, ICEA, NEMA
