Job Summary/Objective:
This position is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the operations team and approximately 1800 team members who work within the six Infrastructure manufacturing sites This person will have the tremendous opportunity to lead a safe, efficient, and profitable operation while fostering a winning, inclusive, and positive culture.  The Vice President will demonstrate the ability to create short and long-term plans to achieve results across various functional areas such as safety, quality, production, operational excellence (Lean), talent management and financial performance.  He/she will likewise display a high level of emotional intelligence, emphasize development of talent throughout the operations organization and act as an inclusive servant leader pushing the team forward. Finally, the Vice President of Manufacturing will bring a strong knowledge of  P&L implications and drive consistent quality and world class customer service through on-the-ground leadership. This position will demonstrate management leadership and strategy development, resulting in improved processes that are viewed as “best in class”. 
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing a safe and secure work environment.   Always leads with a safety-first mindset.  Support all environmental, health, safety (EHS) and security efforts ensuring requirements comply with corporate, state, and federal regulations. Develop a culture that places high importance on safe operations and timely safety incident reporting and root cause mitigation.
  • Drives the execution of the wire & cable productivity plan to drive best in class customer service and support profitable business growth.
  • Create and lead a culture that continually looks for operational improvements, optimizes work processes to gain efficiency, sets goals and achieves cost efficiency measures, and regularly conducts root cause analysis and process improvement for key quality and systemic operational issues.
  • Responsible for partnering with commercial teams for profitable growth opportunities including identifying and driving capital investment opportunities where necessary to meet growth demands.
  • Supports the advancement and optimization of our ERP and MES systems by driving implementation of Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Material Requirements Planning (MRP),  SAP Preventative Maintenance, connected enterprise initiatives and the like.
  • Builds a diverse and equitable work environment by cultivating a culture of empowerment, trust, consistency and inclusivity through teamwork and actively engaging team members.
  • Leads with a talent development focus by ensuring succession planning and effective performance management process. 
  • Define and own stretch KPIs for safety, quality, scrap, performance, delivery, and cost for all aspects of the product and production systems.
  • Collaborate with product management, commercial, and operations planning to ensure accuracy and predictability in the sales, inventory, operations, and planning (SIOP) process. 
  • Continually raise the bar regarding expectations and performance to ensure continued success and growth by making difficult personnel decisions when improvement is not demonstrated. 
  • Foster greater coordination between the operations team and other functions, such as marketing, product management, sales, and finance to maximize any communication that could improve fulfillment, order forecasting, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Lead the operations team's capital investment planning by using analytical modeling to make facility, equipment, and expansion recommendations while driving execution of equipment modernization and installation efforts.

  • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's
  • Years of Experience: 15+    

Preferred

  • Minimum Education Level: Master's
  • Specialized Degree: Engineering or similar.

Other Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates:

  • Experience in successfully leading continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Leading multi-site and/or large scope/scale operations or initiatives.  (e.g., greater than 500 people)
  • Experience running operations with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Savvy business leadership skills with proven track record of success in leading operations organizations toward higher levels of achievement.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong strategic leadership skills with the ability to establish a vision for the operations function.
  • Transformational leader who can communicate effectively and create a collaborative culture to drive change, specifically across multiple sights and geographies.
  • The ability to attract, inspire, develop, and retain a team of exceptional leaders will be crucial to the success of this person. This includes ensuring the right talent in new areas of involvement and development and acceleration of the highest-potential current leaders as well as the empowerment of people at all levels.
