Job Summary

Manages and assists in performance of preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield.  Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance).  Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems.  Prepares technical reports.  Documents equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Direct employees in installation and repair of electrical and mechanical systems, apparatus and components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical codes, manuals, schematics and blueprints.
  • Schedule and assign employees daily tasks of maintaining the facility and production equipment via work orders, following up to ensure job is completed.
  • Schedule maintenance technicians and maintain database for equipment calibration such as spark tester, lump neck and line counter.
  • Direct outside contractors in installation of machines and equipment following electrical code, supplier's recommendations and blueprints.
  • Provide leadership and support to guide employees in troubleshooting malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunctions with other maintenance workers to properly diagnose malfunction. 
  • Provide leadership and support of lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Responsible for HVAC, chillers, boiler, air compressors, pumps and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. 
  • Assess existing equipment and process deficiencies, by working iwth other operation team members, including Process Engineers. Modify equipment and/or processes to achieve principal objective.
  • Directs/manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Negotiates and develops relationships with vendors to ensure Southwire is getting the best value.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline and or equivalent experience preferred. 

Previous technical supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to manage people and processes.

Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems with electronic controls in an industrial environment.

5 years of electrical experience with manufacturing equipment.

5 years of mechanical experience with manufacturing equipment.

Experience troubleshooting digital controls. 

Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to read specifications and prints.

Must be able to use and manipulate computer applications such as word and excel.

Preferred Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline

10 plus years experience
