Job Description

In support of OPS culture, the EHS Intern will assist with administering health and safety program management for the Florence Campus. Intern will assist with implementing and sustaining regulatory programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA and other applicable standards.  Plans, organizes, and performs health and safety activities such as industrial hygiene monitoring, safety meetings, safety inspections, and safety training.

 

Description of Duties:
Ensure all management staff and appropriate operational personnel at the facility are aware of current and pending regulatory requirements, permit conditions and other restrictions imposed by federal, state and local authorities.
Enters data into Southwire’s incident tracking and management system
Assists with the development of training content for the site’s Learning Management System
Assist in creating processes that identify, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace.
Provide and track training to comply with applicable OSHA requirements.
Provide industrial hygiene support as needed to evaluate employee noise and other health exposures.
Assist in the development and implementation of new health & safety programs.

 

Qualifications:
College Junior majoring in Industrial Hygiene or other health, safety and environmental fields are preferred.
Experience working in industrial health, safety and environmental activities preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and one-to-one sessions.
Ability to work non-traditional hours.  Work hours will never interfere with academic schedule.
Must have excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
