Southwire Job Description
The Distribution Supervisor manages daily distribution activities, ensuring accurate and timely product deliveries. Coordinates inventory, shipping, and logistics processes to meet operational goals. Monitors distribution performance and identifies opportunities for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assesses distribution operations and processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to optimize performance.
- Assists in the management of distribution workflows, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet customer expectations and delivery timelines.
- Coaches less experienced staff members on distribution best practices, ensuring team members develop the skills necessary to perform at a high level.
- Conducts more complex audits of inventory, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent future issues.
- Confers with senior management to develop strategies that improve overall distribution efficiency and align with business goals.
- Constructs and implements distribution schedules to ensure timely delivery of products, coordinating with other departments as needed.
- Determines staffing needs for the distribution department, managing hiring, training, and performance management activities.
- Develops more complex distribution plans for special projects or large orders, ensuring all logistics are managed to meet client expectations.
- Ensures compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards within the distribution operations, conducting regular reviews and updates to processes.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a production control/planning environment required.
- Master's degree preferred- Minimum 8-11 years of experience in a production control/planning environment required.
