Travel Requirements:  In this position, you must be able to travel throughout Canada and the United States as may be required from time to time.

Job Description

 

Job Summary/Objective


This person will lead the test operators to meet the specific goals that correspond to the overall departmental objectives. The goals will be achieved by focusing on process, quality, costs and safety metrics.

 

Key Responsibilities


      •   Ensures that cable shipped from the factory are tested to the customer specification and Southwire internal test plans
      •    Operates safely and recommends opportunities for to improve safety through SHOC Process or other means
      •    Ensure that employees are properly trained,work is performed in accordance with procedures as well as EHS requirements
      •    Responsible for planning, establishing schedules and assigning work to meet scheduled ship dates
      •    Accurately records results of test
      •    Ensures equipment is in good working condition and calibrated
      •    Monitor work activities and initiate actions to eliminate problems.
      •    Reviews current test methodologies and test equipment capabilities and recommends changes to maintain testing capabilities
      •    Lead and direct test operator work duties. Document employee performance and develop associated recommendations
      •    Expected to test cable
      •    Interacts with Customer during Factory Acceptance or Witness Testing
      •    Attend Production, or other necessary, meetings

 

Requirements 

 

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years supervising/ managing processes
  • 3+ years of High Voltage Cable experience preferred
  • Experience in Cable or Electrical Equipment Testing
  • Communicate effectively with management and peers
  • Familiarity of Electrical Testing Standard (IEC/AEIC/ICEA) is preferred.
