Southwire Job Description

The Product Specialist will collaborate with both internal and external team members across multiple segments as
well as agents, distributors, and contractors to promote Southwire products. This individual is responsible for daily
commercial activity related to product management including reporting, pricing analysis, marketing, customer
support, lead time management, and inventory planning and tracking.

 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate daily routines of customer service including but not limited to quotations, order management, materials analysis and expediting.
  • Communicate and coordinate sales opportunities and quotations across the various business segments.
  • Provide market intelligence as necessary to position Southwire for growth and profit opportunities.
  • Become/remain an expert with respect to product category and competition.
  • Work with existing and new customers to rebuild sales where sales have eroded.
  • Request and coordinate assistance from MDM, Manufacturing and Logistics to expedite and resolve customer inquiries.
  • Work closely with other team members to determine and monitor department’s key performance (KPIs) such as sales vs. plan, new business goals, and gross profit percentage.
  • Identify key threats and opportunities and implement plans to deal with both
  • Create a solution-driven, leadership persona both internally and externally while collaborating with other functions within the corporation and customer organization.
  • Encourage team building and a high-performance work environment through ongoing developmental training, leadership and people management skills.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related degree is required, or 5+ years wire and cable technical and/or sales experience.
  • Ability to travel as much as 30% of the time.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven business acumen, proven presentation skills, exceptional interpersonal capabilities and possess an attention to detail.
  • Relevant experience in a similar technical environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SW IT systems is required (SAP, BI, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
