Southwire Job Description


The Purchasing Supervisor plays a crucial role in our manufacturing operation by leading the purchasing team and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services needed for production. This position requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, assist in the negotiation of favorable terms with suppliers, and maintain a strong focus on cost control and quality.

Key Responsibilities
o    Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and performance criteria.
o    Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply chain issues.
o    Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify potential opportunities or risks in the supply chain.
o    Collaborate with production and inventory teams to create accurate procurement plans based on production schedules and inventory levels.
o    Ensure adequate stock levels of critical materials to avoid production disruptions.
o    Assist and collaborate with the Sourcing team in negotiating favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
o    Collaborate with the Sourcing team in drafting and managing supplier contracts, ensuring compliance and performance monitoring.
o    Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or supplier relationships.
o    Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team, providing guidance and support in achieving departmental goals.
o    Prepare and present regular reports on procurement KPIs and performance metrics to senior management.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills 

Required

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's 

Years of Experience: 3+
