Job Description
Job Summary/Objective:
As a Process Support Technician II at Southwire, you will play a crucial role in supporting our wire and cable manufacturing processes by maintaining tooling, organizing tool rooms, maintaining support systems, developing support systems, working directly with vendors, being the subject matter expert for many parts of the manufacturing process, and assisting with special projects under the direction of your manager. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the tool room, managing tooling inventory levels, processing work orders, updating process guides, system maintenance, data entry, and data analysis. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain and repair tools, dies, fixtures, lubricants systems, and water systems used in the wire and cable manufacturing process, ensuring they are in optimal working condition to meet production requirements.
2. Set up the tool rooms and systems in an organized manner to facilitate efficient tooling management and access.
3. Keep inventory of tooling at the correct stocking level, monitoring usage and replenishing supplies as needed.
4. Receive work orders for prioritized items on the schedule from the materials department, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
5. Update process guides as needed to reflect changes in tooling, procedures, or best practices.
6. Assist with special projects such as wire design, database improvements, and new equipment setup, providing technical support and expertise as required.
7. Always adhere to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and other team members.
8. Provide training and support to other team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to develop their skills in these areas noted.
9. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating and behaving professionally with vendors, customers, clients, and co-workers, promoting a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
10. Possess effective communication skills and be able to read and write English, with proficiency in computer skills including Advaris and Microsoft Suite (especially Access and Excel).
11. Regularly stand throughout 12-hour shifts, with the ability to lift up to 45 lbs. and perform frequent pulling, pushing, and bending.
