Job Summary
As the Materials Manager at Southwire, you will be responsible for leading a large team of material handlers, planners, buyers, and supervisors to ensure the efficient and effective management of materials. This role is critical in optimizing customer service, while managing resources and inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the materials management team, including material handlers, planners, buyers, and supervisors, to ensure a seamless supply chain operation.
- Manage shipping and receiving operations effectively and safely.
- Develop and implement strategies for effective execution of production plans.
- Lead improvement projects for plant flow using Lean methodology.
- Collaborate with Operations Directors and Product Management to forecast demand, plan material requirements, and ensure alignment with production schedules.
- Possess a strong systems knowledge and ability to use SAP, IBP and Advaris.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
- Manage the resources of the plant and communicate bottlenecks preventing execution and improved customer service.
- Lead and support the professional development of the Materials Management team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
Minimum 10 years experience for external candidates; internal candidates, 10 years combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
Bachelors in Industrial Engineering.
CSCP or CPIM certification.
10+ years experience for external candidates; internal candidates, 10+ years combination of education and/or experience.
Travel
Up to 15% travel.
