The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Job Summary

As a Director of Mexico Operations at Southwire, you will play a pivotal role in leading the operations of one of our manufacturing sites. You are responsible for ensuring operational excellence, implementing continuous improvement strategies, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and effective work environment. Your leadership will implement the ONE Southwire approach and Culture of Zero to achieve and surpass safety, quality, production, and financial goals, aligning with Southwire’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop site leaders and team members.   Manage and develop a diverse team, providing leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Lead and manage the site leadership team to achieve Southwire site targets and objectives. Lead by example in promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence in execution.
  • Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, equipment efficiency, people & culture, maintenance, and inventory management, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track production performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Engage site team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma techniques.
  • Cultivate and foster a collaborative leadership team to ensure collaboration at the facility and extend to the greater Southwire locations to ensure prompt resolution to site challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Develop and manage the plant's budget, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability while ensuring the delivery of high-quality products.
  • Facilitate effective communication across the site, promoting transparency and engagement among team members.
  • Represent Southwire in the community, fostering positive relationships and supporting local initiatives.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's: Engineering, Ops Mgt, or Business Mgt

10 years of experience in in manufacturing management

Preferred Education & Experience

Master's degree: Business Administration or Engineering

Lean Six Sigma Certification
