Job Summary

A Shipping and Transportation Supervisor manages the daily operations of moving raw materials in and finished products out. They bridge the gap between production and customer delivery, overseeing staff, carrier schedules, safety, and finished goods inventory accuracy to ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate shipments.  This role operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment within a manufacturing plant, requiring daily coordination of warehouse activities (packing, loading, storing) and stakeholders.  This individual will manage second shift and act as the primary liaison to ensure external partners (3PL) meet company standards and contractual obligations. 

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

  • Hiring and training staff, including shipping personnel, material handlers and forklift operators.  
  • Coach and mentor shipping staff, assigning daily tasks and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Shipment Execution:

  • Run daily reports, attended daily SIOP meetings for visibility of upcoming work and workload
  • Coordinate with Operation and Production Planning on finished goods and shipments availability
  • Managing relationships with freight forwarders, coordinate daily outbound flows to ensure deliveries aligned with service commitments and cost targets.

Quality Control:

  • Serving as the final checkpoint to verify that products are clean, complete, and meeting brand standards before delivery.

Documentation Management:

  • Preparing and reviewing critical paperwork like Bills of Lading (BOL), commercial invoices, and export documents for international trade.

Finished Goods Inventory Accuracy:

  • Maintain accurate records in SAP, overseeing cycle counts, reconciling shipping logs, and ensuring inventory accuracy at main building and 3PL.

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce PPE guidelines and warehouse safety protocols, such as forklift inspections and safe lifting practices
  • Complies with all policies and standards
  • Manages staff performance and development, coaching team members to achieve their full potential in contributing to the department's goals.

Required Education & Experience

Minimum Education Level: Associates Degree or minimum of 5 years equivilant experience. Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.

Years of Experience: 5-7 Years Warehouse Management

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience with SAP Inventory and Shipments Management is a must.
  • Proficient in Warehouse and Supply Chain management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data.
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations.
  • Problem solving.
  • Quickly identifying and solving problems to keep operations moving.
  • Identify errors and eliminate root cause using sustainable corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues.
